Dr. David M. Harrison is professor and Howard Phillips Eminent Scholar Chair in the Dr. P. Phillips School of Real Estate at the UCF College of Business. At the Dean’s Speaker Series in December 2015, he discussed whether locations offering a broader array of educational opportunities should command a premium in the marketplace, and explained how important schooling options are to family relocation decisions.

Steven Whiting, Ph.D.

Steven Whiting, Ph.D.

Dr. Steven Whiting is an assistant professor of management at the UCF College of Business.

In 2015, he, working with a colleague at the University of Buffalo, submitted a paper examining the effect “intangibles,” such as leadership skills, and positive or negative character traits, had on the NFL draft selection process. They reviewed over 440 college football players selected as a wide receiver or linebacker in the NFL draft between 2006 and 2012 and concluded that positive character traits can predict how high they go in the draft and even can predict their NFL career performance.

James Combs, Ph.D.
Dr. Combs is the Dr. Phillips Chair of American Private Enterprise and professor of management at the UCF College of Business.

In November 2015, he spoke at the Dean’s Speaker Series about whether entrepreneurial skills can be passed on to the next generation, and how that could be accomplished.

Ajai Singh, Ph.D.
Dr. Singh is the SunTrust Eminent Scholar Chair of Banking, professor and chair of the Department of Finance, and director of the Dr. P. Phillips School of Real Estate at the UCF College of Business.

In October 2015 at the Dean’s Speaker Series, Singh spoke about “Separating Good From Bad Issuers,” discussing the suspicions surrounding publicly-traded companies that offer additional stock and whether those suspicions are warranted.

Before coming to UCF, Singh worked with the State Bank of India. He has been published in several world-class academic journals in finance and was in charge of the undergraduate program in finance at the Weatherhead School. For more information visit his faculty profile.

Harry Paarsch, Ph.D.

Dr. Paarsch is the professor of business analytics at the UCF College of Business.

In September 2015, he spoke at the Dean’s Speaker Series on “The Incomplete Information Revolution,” outlining key insights into the science and application of empirical methods and the proper use of data in business decision-making. He has been on the forefront of data and analytics and helping provide business with many more tools to effectively plan and make better decisions at an accelerated rate. Prior to UCF, Paarsch was an economist at Amazon.

Richard Lapchick, Ph.D.

Richard Lapchick

Dr. Lapchick is eminent scholar, endowed chair and director for the DeVos Sport Business Management Program in the UCF College of Business Administration. He is also the vice president/CEO of the Institute for Sport & Social Justice (ISSJ), formerly the National Consortium for Academics and Sports (NCAS), and director of The Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport (TIDES).

In December 2014, he spoke at the Dean’s Speaker Series about bridging the racial divide, touching on gender violence in the NFL, NBA ownership crises and how sport can help address issues of social justice.

Lapchick is often referred to as the “racial conscience of sport.” He is a human rights activist, pioneer for racial equality, internationally recognized expert on sports issues, scholar and author. He is a regular columnist for ESPN.com and The Sports Business Journal.

Robin Roberts, Ph.D.

Robin Roberts

Dr. Roberts is Pegasus Professor and the Al and Nancy Burnett Eminent Scholar Chair in Accounting at the UCF College of Business.

In October 2013, he spoke at the Dean’s Speaker Series about “Organizational Hypocrisy,” and how managing conflicting stakeholder demands can tempt an organization to adopt specific strategies that lack internal consistency, raising fundamental concerns over the behavioral integrity of the organization.

Roberts is widely published, and his research focuses on ethics and regulation in the public accounting profession as well as corporate social responsibility disclosure.
