Biography
Barbara Silva is a fourth-year Management Ph.D. candidate at UCF’s College of Business. She holds master’s and bachelor’s degrees in business management and worked as a strategic finance manager in a telecommunications company before moving to Orlando to pursue her Ph.D. Her research is focused on minority entrepreneurship, homophily and identity within entrepreneurial contexts. In addition, she teaches undergraduate strategic management courses.
Barbara has published in Journal of Business Venturing Insights and presented multiple papers at the Academy of Management Annual Meeting. She was awarded the 2023 Kenneth & Ruth Bradley Management Scholarship, the 2022 UCF Global Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) Scholarship, and the 2022 Outstanding Research Insight Publication Award by Entrepreneur & Innovation Exchange (EIX). She is originally from Brazil and currently lives in Orlando with her husband.
