Most consumers including young adults can be characterized as either “savers” or “spenders”.
Most of my students have both a credit card and debit card.
I recommend debit cards for spenders to avoid credit card debt. This is the biggest mistake consumers make with credit cards.
For savers, I advise students to get a credit card with a low limit and learn to use it properly and pay the balance in full each month.
For rewards, I normally recommend cash rebates since cash works everywhere.
