Biography
Dr. Sam Paustian-Underdahl is a professor, researcher, consultant, and co-founder whose work is dedicated to enhancing employee and organizational well-being and effectiveness.
Her studies are published in premier academic journals including the Journal of Applied Psychology (JAP), the Journal of Management (JOM), the Journal of Organizational Behavior (JOB), and Personnel Psychology, among others, and have been presented at international and national conferences. She was honored to conduct research on flexible HR practices in Ireland in 2020 as a U.S. Fulbright Scholar.
Dr. Paustian-Underdahl teaches classes on Organizational Behavior and Human Resources to undergraduate and graduate students, and provides evidence-based leadership development to current leaders and executives. In addition to her academic experiences, Dr. Paustian-Underdahl has gained valuable external and internal human capital consulting experiences working with Strategic Management Decisions, Ingersoll Rand, and Total HR Analytics. Additionally, she is a co-founder of Joyntly Human Capital Labs, a human capital science and technology company that builds data-driven solutions for improving leadership skills in the workplace.
Additionally, Dr. Paustian-Underdahl currently serves as an Associate Editor for JOM, as an editorial board member for Leadership Quarterly and JBP, and is an ad-hoc reviewer for Academy of Management Journal, JOOP, JAP, and Human Resources Management.
Dr. Paustian-Underdahl holds a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Georgia, as well as a M.A. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology and a PhD in Organizational Science from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She was named a Top Scholar in 2015 at Florida International University (FIU), and was awarded Best Professor and Best Course teaching awards by FIU healthcare MBA students in 2017 and 2018. At Florida State University, she was awarded the College of Business’s Outstanding Junior Faculty Research Award in 2020.
She is currently an Associate Professor of Management at the University of Central Florida.
