Biography

L. Harrison ‘Hal’ Thayer is an Assistant Director at the Florida SBDC at the University of Central Florida. With more than 7 years as a consultant and program manager at the FSBDC, Hal has a broad and deep knowledge and understanding of small businesses and consulting services, training opportunities and research resources offered to them by the FSBDC at UCF.

There, he consults with entrepreneurs and business owners on a wide variety of business topics; he leads strategy and marketing seminars; he is program manager for and facilitator of the CEO XChange, a peer-to-peer CEO roundtable counseling group; and he leads the FSBDC’s marketing efforts. He also currently teaches a course in small business development at the College of Business Administration at UCF.

Hal joined the FSBDC at UCF in 2010 after an accomplished career in strategic marketing, corporate brand management and integrated marketing planning and execution at industry leading companies including HBO, General Electric, Liberty Mutual Insurance and Novell, often working closely with the company CEOs.

After 20 plus years in corporate America, and prior to joining the FSBDC at UCF, Hal was active in small business, first as general manager of a financial services boutique and then the principal in T3 Advisors, LLC, where he provided business and marketing consulting services to small businesses and individuals, including as a career coach and a franchise business advisor.

Hal holds an MBA from Columbia Business School in New York City and a BA from Amherst College in Massachusetts.
