Education and Certifications
Dr. Brown has a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Central Florida, a Master of Science in Engineering Management from Florida Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Tennessee State University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE), and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
Experience
Dr. Brown had 16 years of increasingly responsible leadership positions with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Upon leaving NASA, he provided consulting and training services on leadership, project management and decision making to hundreds of companies ranging in size from the small entrepreneurial to the Fortune 100. His book, The Handbook of Program Management published by McGraw Hill, is consistently the bestselling book on program management.
Teaching Philosophy
Dr. Brown believes that inspiration along with the motivation to use and apply what is learned in the classroom is as equally important as education. Education without inspiration is useless and he excels at motivating students to take what is discovered in the classroom and apply it to the work environment. His focus is transferring practical knowledge that has real world applicability, empowering students to make impactful contributions to their employers immediately.
