Biography
Ethan LaMothe is an Assistant Professor in the Kenneth G. Dixon School of Accounting in the College of Business at the University of Central Florida where he teaches tax. Dr. LaMothe joined the faculty at UCF in 2020 and received his PhD from the University of South Carolina. Prior to his doctoral studies, Dr. LaMothe received a BS in accounting from Berry College and a MAcc in taxation from Brigham Young University.
Dr. LaMothe’s primary research focus is on the behavior of individual taxpayers with an emphasis on determinants of, and the psychological processes which lead to, tax compliance decisions (i.e., understanding why people cheat on their taxes). He has presented his research both nationally and internationally, and has been published in journals such as The Accounting Review and Journal of Business Ethics.
