Biography
Axel Stock is an Associate Professor of Marketing in the College of Business at the University of Central Florida. He was a visiting scholar at the European School of Management & Technology (ESMT) in Berlin, Germany, in Spring 2015 and a visiting professor at the University of Seoul, South Korea, in Summer 2018. Dr. Stock has taught Marketing Management and Marketing Strategy in the undergraduate and MBA programs at UCF. He also has taught the doctoral seminar in Marketing Models.
In his research, Dr. Stock applies tools from game theory and industrial organization to study competitive marketing strategy. He also pursues empirical research to test the implications of his theoretical models. In his focal research stream, he examines how companies can use product scarcity to improve their business outcome. More recently, he has been interested in issues related to sales force and pricing strategies. His studies have been published in Marketing Science, Management Science, Journal of Retailing and the International Journal of Research in Marketing. Dr. Stock serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Business Research – Retailing, and as an ad-hoc reviewer for premier journals like Marketing Science, Management Science, the Journal of Marketing Research and Quantitative Marketing & Economics. In 2010, Dr. Stock was selected as the winner of the Excellence in Research Award from UCF College of Business.
He holds a Ph.D. in management with specialization in marketing and an MS in economics from Purdue University. He is a native of Germany.
