Biography

Professor Singh was the Bolton-Perella Endowed Professor of Finance at Lehigh University from 2011-2015 before moving to UCF this summer. Prior to his move to Lehigh in 2011, he was a Professor of Finance at the Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University.

Professor Singh was in charge of the Undergraduate Program in Finance at the Weatherhead School from 1998 until 2011 and is singularly proud of the fact that it was ranked #1 in the U.S. by Bloomberg BusinessWeek for 2010 & 2012.

He has received several teaching awards, the most recent of which was the “Undergraduate Teaching Excellence Award” given to him by the Undergraduate Student Government at Case Western Reserve University for being the Outstanding Faculty Member in the Weatherhead School of Management for 2010-2011.

Professor Singh has several publications in top-tier academic journals in Finance including the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Corporate Finance, Journal of Financial Intermediation, Journal of Financial Markets, Financial Management, Journal of Banking & Finance, Journal of Risk & Insurance and Financial Analysts Journal. He has over 500 citations of his research papers.

He served with the State Bank of India, India’s largest commercial bank in their Investment Banking group. His research interests have been informed by his past experience. Among other topics, his research work has been at the intersection of investment banking and corporate finance and seeks to understand whether the market’s response to capital acquisition events, in both international and domestic settings, is consistent with rational or behavioral models.
