Associate Director, DeVos Sport Business Management Program
Though new to UCF, Associate Director Chris Gallagher has already become a guiding force in the DeVos Sport Business Management Program, bringing years of industry leadership and a passion for student success into the classroom. With a decorated career in sports and entertainment (including honors from Sports Business Journal, Major League Soccer, and Venues Now) he now focuses on preparing the next generation to break into a competitive field. Whether he’s celebrating graduates, coaching his son’s sports teams, or writing bestselling novels, he leads with purpose, positivity, and a deep belief in the power of perseverance and authentic relationships.
How long have you been a Knight? 2 semesters
What is your favorite UCF memory? Attending the post-graduation ceremony this past December celebrating the recent group of students that completed the DeVos program.
What is your area of research at UCF? The sports and entertainment industry
What professional awards or honors have you earned during your career?Venues Now All-Star (2022), Ticketing Industry Power Player – Sports Business Journal (2018), Major League Soccer Ticketing Executive of the Year (2015)
What do you love about what you do? It’s a privilege to help guide the next generation of sports and entertainment professionals. The students are wonderful to work with and watching them successfully take the next steps to follow their dreams is extremely gratifying.
What do you find most exciting or rewarding about your field of study? Helping the students successfully navigate the sports and entertainment industry and then watching them land their first full-time role – that’s where the journey begins.
When you’re not in the classroom, what can we find you doing? I can be found on the baseball or football field coaching my 12 year old son. I’m also active in the men’s group at our Church.
What are some little known facts about you? I’ve written two novels. One of which, The Vulture Circles, reached Amazon Best Seller status in 2023.
What is your advice for Business Knights? 1) Develop genuine, mutually beneficial relationships (2) Have a strong willingness to learn at every opportunity (3) Stay positive and don’t give up – getting into this industry is challenging, but absolutely worth it.
