With a body of work stretching across nearly two decades and publications featured in many of the world’s top academic journals, Khim Kelly has a storied career in the field of accounting and can now add an endowed professorship to her list of achievements. Kelly’s investiture as KPMG Professor of Accounting represents the financial commitment made by KPMG partners, employees and the KPMG Foundation to provide high quality faculty, curriculum and resources to business students at the University of Central Florida College of Business.
“I am grateful and honored to be invested as the KPMG Professor of Accounting,” said Dr. Kelly. “This professorship will support the pursuit of my research as well as the education of future generations of students and accounting practitioners.”
Dr. Kelly joined the UCF College of Business Kenneth G. Dixon School of Accounting as an Associate Professor in 2016. She currently teaches courses in financial and managerial accounting, while her research examines the design of performance measurement, evaluation and compensation practices in organizations. A recipient of multiple Best Paper Awards, Dr. Kelly is featured in a variety of top accounting publications and serves on the editorial boards for several renowned accounting journals.
“Khim Kelly has worked tirelessly to understand the ways in which accounting information can be used to improve decision making in organizations,” said Theresa Libby, Director of the Kenneth G. Dixon School of Accounting. “Khim’s enthusiasm for these new and innovative ideas in the field cannot help but translate into exciting and often cutting-edge discussions with students in the classroom.”
A longtime partner of the UCF College of Business, KPMG supports student initiatives, sponsors the college’s Professional Selling Program and hosted a “Sales Role Play Competition” last year. KPMG team members are also frequent speakers on campus at The EXCHANGE. Through the KPMG Professorship in Accounting, the firm acknowledges the central role faculty play in the academic process. Dr. Kelly’s diverse portfolio within the accountancy discipline makes her a perfect choice for the professorship, according to Christopher McCann, a senior manager in KPMG’s Tax practice and member of the UCF Dixon School of Accounting Advisory Board.
“We are proud of our longstanding collaboration with the UCF College of Business and the important work Dr. Kelly is accomplishing here,” said McCann. “She will serve as a great representative of the KPMG Professor title and we look forward to her continued success.”
